Ted can definitely sense some of the tension there, but then there's plenty to be tense about right now. He grabs her hand and gives it a reassuring squeeze, returning her smile.
He's a bit hesitant to dig in himself, and even though the smell is amazing, his appetite isn't astonishing at the moment. But he's been told it's safe, so he does start eating, albeit definitely slower than he normally would.
