"I'm in charge all the time, too," she points out with a smile, petting his hair. "I get it, though. It's nice to not be in charge sometimes. When you've had to make so many hard decisions, sometimes it's nice to have no decisions at all. To just let go and let someone else make all the decisions."

She's talking in general, but also in particular about the day he's had, and how she had intended to ease it, to give him a chance to rest and be taken care of.

Hearing her describe it like that definitely solidifies why he feels that way. She obviously does get it. And it sounds like it was a pretty intentional decision for her to do this for him.

He sits up a little, propping himself up on an elbow, and looks down at her with a smile. "I love you so much," he says softly, adoringly, and leans down to kiss her.

Ted definitely wants to do something for her too, have a day where she can just relax. Though for right now at least, she might just be enjoying being able to do things for herself.

She wouldn't object to some turnabout at some point, but for the moment her focus is still on Ted and making sure he's okay in the face of all he's had to do today.

She kisses him back, one hand resting in his hair as the other touches his cheek.

"I love you," she responds when their lips part, gazing up at him with equal adoration.

He just looks at her for a bit, appreciating this wonderful woman he loves, who loves him.

"What about you?" he asks, reaching down to rest his hand on her stomach. Not inherently sexual, but just suggestive enough in the context. "Would you like to be taken care of for a bit?"

She smiles as he rests his hand on her stomach, putting her own hand over it gently.

"Only if you want to," she says softly. She would enjoy having him take care of her, but she still wants this moment to be driven by what he wants, what would be fulfilling for him.

"I want to," he affirms, smiling. He knows she means it, that she wouldn't want him to do it out of responsibility, or against his own wishes just because she asked.

Which is why he's trying not to worry about reciprocating exactly what she did, or try to make it mind-blowing or anything like that. He just wants to make sure she feels good, and then they can both cuddle up relaxed and satisfied.

He also just enjoys touching and kissing her in general. He leans down to kiss softly at her neck, just enjoying her warmth and her closeness. Not with any specific purpose or urgency.

She knows he means it, that he wouldn'tsay it just because he felt obligated. She loves how honest their communication is. Joan has been in plenty of relationships where communication was more often or not a guessing game, trying to figure out what the other person actually meant, and speaking in code in return. But with this relationship with Ted, she feels like there's no games. Even when their communication is nonverbal, even when they don't know the right words, they understand each other. It's beautiful.

Joan sighs happily as he kisses her neck. She lets her head tilt back a little and her eyes to drift closed.

He kisses along her jawline, up behind her ear, along her collarbone. Soon he starts gently caressing her upper body as well, just gentle touches along her stomach, her side, her breasts, her arms, her neck, her hipbone. Just gently exploring her body, unhurried, while letting her relax. And this is honestly pretty relaxing to him too, just gently showering her in affection.

He reaches up to stroke her cheek, leaning down give her another soft kiss, before smiling down at her. "You're so gorgeous, you know that?" he says softly, happily. "I love every inch of you."

The way he's touching her is so lovely. It demonstrates the depth of his affection for her that he enjoys giving her these simple touches, exploring and adoring every inch of her.

She leans her cheek into his touch and kisses him back, then opens her eyes to smile up at him at the compliment. "I love you," she murmurs in response, her expression making the truth of those words clear.

She's been asking him questions, and they're sort of still in the middle of it, so he figures now might be a good time for him to ask questions without being too embarrassed.

"So what I did while we were in the shower.." he says, gently caressing her breast. "At the end, where I kept going. How do you like that?"

He is definitely blushing, but at least he managed to ask. He just wants to make sure he doesn't go too far.

He's so cute when he blushes like that, and she smiles fondly.

"It was intense," she says, reaching up to touch his cheek and caress his earlobe. "Absolute torture." Her smile widens and her eyes sparkle. "I wouldn't mind doing it again."

Ted laughs at that, an actual laugh. And he definitely makes a mental note. A little bit of torture in the right circumstances, just fine.

"And... what about when I stop right before?" he asks, maybe even a tiny bit cheekily. Cause that's something she also seems to hate in exactly the right fun way, that just makes it better.

His laugh has Joan laughing as well. It feels so good to laugh with him. At the suggestion she blinks and keeps laughing.

"Wow, you are really intent on torturing me right now, aren't you?" Her grin is playful. "Do you want me to beg?"

"Only if that's something you want to do," he answers, still chuckling a bit too. He does mean that - it might be fun, just as a way to tell he's got her hot and bothered, but it's not something he'd want her to so for his sake.

And this kind of torture is definitely not something he had some initial intention of doing, it's just something he's developed with her over time, just from learning how she responds to things, and wanting to make it as good as possible for her. He just wants to hear her take on it.

"Maybe," she says playfully. "Every once in a while."

In all honesty, it does sound like fun. There are certain circumstances and certain people with whom it would not be fun for Joan, but she feels safe exploring this dynamic with Ted. He's not seeking to control her or to boost his male ego by getting a woman to beg. It would be communication. Intense communication, but still communication.

He nods, smiling. Of course, Ted would still give her the pleasure even if she didn't beg. That's probably a significant difference. If she cursed at him and told him to get on with it, he'd also take that as a similar indication of how much she needed it, and it would have the same effect.

He lets his fingertips trace gently around her nipple. "If you have any other suggestions or requests, I'm happy to hear them," he says, smiling, in case she's had something on her mind. Not necessarily for specifically him pleasuring her, but in general too.

"Mmm," she hums as his fingers circle her nipple, her body moving slightly at the sensation. "It's a very vast topic," she says with a wide smile. "But at the moment, I think I'm more interested in doing that talking."

He laughs a little at that, and leans down to give her a kiss. If you count this conversation as foreplay, it's been going on for a while.

He pauses for a second before he does move forward though, reaching up to caress her cheek. "I really do appreciate being able to talk about this stuff with you though. Thank you."

Right from the start, she's made an effort to make sure he feels safe and comfortable, to ease him into things. He's obviously not someone who finds talking about sex easy, but she makes it both fun and safe.

She smiles and leans into his touch, lifting her hand to caress his cheek as well.

"The pleasure is mine," she answers, her smile and tone at first playful, before both warm to sincerity. "I appreciate being able to share these things with you. It means a lot to me that you trust me enough to open up to me."

She knows talking about sex is hard for him, which makes it all the more significant that he's willing to do it with her.

"I'd trust you with anything," he answers quietly, utterly sincere.

Even if there are things he hasn't shared yet, he knows he will eventually. And even if there are things that are scary and difficult, he knows he can do it with her support.

He leans down to kiss her again, lovingly, but now maybe also with a bit more purpose. That also becomes more evident as his hand wanders across her body and down between her legs, rubbing against her.

Joan knows there are things he hadn't shared with her, as well as things he still hasn't shared, his father's suicide the most prominent example. But she doesn't think it's because he doesn't trust her. She thinks he just doesn't want to face those issues himself.

She hums as she returns the kiss, definitely noticing the increased sense of purpose. The hum turns into a quiet whimper as his hand slides between her legs, and her hips yearn upward, pressing herself needfully against that hand.

Ted shifts a bit, pressing his body against her side, wanting that skin contact even if he doesn't intend to use anything but his hand or maybe his mouth. He loops his leg over her leg, pulling her thighs apart like that.

He continues rubbing the hand against her, two fingers slipping inside as he provides that stimulation she craves, firm enough that it probably won't take terribly long, now she's waited for a while. Soon he moves from kissing her mouth to kissing her neck, nuzzling up behind her ear.

"What do you think would be more fun..." he asks, whispering against her ear, once he's got her worked up pretty good. "Seeing how many times I can make you come, or seeing how many times I can bring you just to the edge before you can't wait any longer?"

He hadn't intended to do anything special, really, but once he got into it, well, he got into it.

She's started panting softly, her body gently writhing against his, when he whispers in her ear. She gives a breathless laugh. Both of the options sound equally torturous...and equally amazing.

"The second," she pants with a smile. "Make me beg."

"Your wish is my command," he whispers playfully with a smile, nipping a little at her ear. "Warn me like you usually do then, okay?"

He'll leave it up to her if she wants to try to come or try to resist, but he appreciates the warning to make him not have go guess, even if he's pretty good at reading her by now.

The first time he doesn't wait for a warning though, not wanting to push it too close, just warming up. He just massages her for a while longer, before he pulls his hand back and licks his fingers, then instead going to gently play with her breasts and nipples for a while.

She giggles a little when he nips at her ear. "Will do," she promises with a smile.

She lets herself relax in his embrace as he touches her, just enjoying it, knowing that he'll soon stop. When he refocuses his attention on her breasts she smiles up at him, both warm and playful.
